Gender Equality in Action Forum
On June 20th, TFER hosted the Gender Equality in Action forum at Box Hill Pavillion.
With a big focus on women in sport in our region, our state and our nation, this was a timely event to learn what is happening on a local and state wide level.
Guest speakers Jeril Rechter CEO – VicHealth and Jacinta Masters, Manager – GenVic presented some of the key initiatives being undertaken by these two leading organisations with a particular focus on women in sport. We were lucky enough to hear from Dinasha Wimalasari – This Girl Can Ambassador about her experience with sport participation and involvement in the Vic Health This Girl Can Vic initiative.
It was exciting to hear about the work being done in our region as Rachel Messer (Inpiro) and Jacinda Erich (Yarra Ranges Council) launched the “Creating a Place for women in Sport” audit tool and Jeanette Ingram (Maroondah Council) talked more about the Equality Is The Game initiative in our region.
TFER are currently finalising their co-designed action plan, and this was a great opportunity to hear about how the partnership is embedding intersectionality, respectful relationships and new settings into the new plan, we’ll hear more about this in the coming months, so stay tuned to learn how your organisation can get more involved.
The event was proudly sponosored by the OEPCP and Women’s Health East and we look forward to bringing you more exciting events like this in the future.
